Double-breasted suits have made a big comeback along with three piece suits with contrasting vests. We’ve seen pant lengths shorten and even cuffs make a comeback.

Thom Browne’s latest collection was all about exaggerated muscles, hooded heads, and grotesque make-up. Drawing inspiration from movies such as Blade Runner, Road Warrior, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Despicable Me, the collection focused on being bold and ditching the sophisticated élan that is a regular of men’s evening wear. Unconventional colors including gradations of grey, black, white, dark blue, mint green, pink ruled the ramp.

Colors

Simple evening wear has become passé, black dinner suits are no longer in trend; white, velvet, burgundy and midnight blue are the colors of the season. Ryan Gosling and Daniel Craig have brought this style to the masses. Australian custom menswear provider InStitchu produced a lovely midnight blue dinner suit for Wallabies star James O’Connor.

Fabrics

Velvet jackets are in vogue, you can even add an edgy vest to spruce up the outfit.

Suits made from wool, silk and cashmere in attractive colors are ruling the roost. The adventurous ones can even go for more daring fabrics such as glenplaid and houndstooth.

We're really loving Australian custom, tailored menswear provider InStitchu at the moment. And with tailored suits starting at $299, you can design any of the looks above online and start dressing like Ryan Gosling yourself.

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-85979151066500896872013-01-31T12:13:00.001-08:002013-01-31T12:13:36.618-08:00The Face of Social Media Has Changed – Power to the People
Social Media Marketing has changed and for the better. Why? because they are on trend in both style and their socially responsible impact.

Every hour 4,500 acres of forest are destroyed by chainsaws, machetes, flames or bulldozers. With that comes the destruction of habitats for millions of species, larger amounts of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere and increased speed and severity of global warming.

The WeWood eco friendly watch is made from 100% natural wood and are completely free of toxic and artificial materials. If you are sensitive to metal – no problems here – the watches are totally hypoallergenic. If you have a small wrist they are also easily adjustable.

And now for the added socially responsible bang of your buck- for each watch sold WeWood plants a tree!

WeWood partners with American Forests which is a nonprofit organisation recognised as a world leader in environmental restoration. At the end of 2010 American Forests had planted 35 million trees in countries worldwide. Its goal is to plant 100 million trees by 2020.

So here is a little way to help – if you are in the market for a timepiece or thinking of a gift for someone – here is a way you can help those 100 million trees be planted and join the efforts of those tree warriors worldwide.

My favourite is the limited edition Odyssey Beige – and for only $119 and $10 postage – so its a great eco friendly watch all round. Which is your favourite ?

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-3486944921913588412012-10-02T04:07:00.001-07:002012-10-02T04:07:20.739-07:00The Face of Social Media Has Changed – Power to the People
Social Media Marketing has changed and for the better. Check out the Obviously Full Cut Pouch Brief. (Who knows? They might be very comfortable!)

Hardy Amies pocket hankies: worth investigating. These are becoming increasingly popular accessories.

Hardy Amies Business Shirts: French Cuff and Single Cuff, these are excellent, and worth considering.

Getting married? TNC do wedding gear as well. Yes, the ultimate fashion accessory - cute, fuzzy, warm bears are going to be everywhere.

But it's not just about the clip-on bears that have been around since I was young - there are furry plush bears as well, and they have cute pins for the first time this year. These are all going to be available in March at, according to the Bandaged Bear Appeal website: Best & Less, HCF, Blooms chemist, St George and Starbucks.

And there's even more: You can (and should) register to hold a Bandaged Bear Breakfast anytime this March for the Bandaged Bear Appeal and help raise funds for the Children's Hospital at Westmead's great work. At school. at work, even as an excuse for a catch-up with friends, it's a great feel-good way to start the day.

Just too busy? You can always donate as well, and let other's know that they should, too. Spreading the word really works. In fact, head to the homepage and you should see a banner giving you a way to multiply your good deed hundreds if not thousands of times!

Please help The Children's Hospital at Westmead do their amazing work.

Which way have you helped? Did you make a donation, share the word, plan a breakfast, or wear your bear? Say so in a comment below!

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-22121708382773056592012-02-16T15:05:00.001-08:002012-02-16T15:05:44.362-08:00The Basket People - Good things come in large, quality packages
There are a number of hamper companies that have cropped up over the years. It's a good business to be in because putting a basket together yourself (or hundreds of them for corporate gifts) takes a lot of consideration and effort.

While some still prefer to prepare such gifts themselves, there's one company that has been around a long time, and which has mastered the ability to add the same personal touch as if you had put it together yourself.

The Basket People achieve this through careful thought and TLC as to what particulars should feature, in what quantities, and understandable prices. The proof being the uniqueness of various baskets, and also in The Basket People's flexibility. They have a whole section dedicated to allowing you to Include your Products, something that would interest corporate gift idea hunters I thought. Companies could add in samples of stock and leave the rest to the professionals.

They have prepared baskets by occasion: Easter gift baskets, Father's Day gift packs, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day (really, you can add spice to a relationship any day - or pep it up with their Coffee Lovers pack) and of course Christmas - with and without alcohol.

But the real treats I think you'll find is in their Best Seller and 'gifts up to 80% off' sections.

Try these:

Sweet Lovers Special - $24.50

Coffee Lovers Specials - $26.50

Savoury Indulgence - $29.50

Lovers Special - which used to be $135.65 is now $59

It won't take you long to find something that suits your needs. But do try them out. I'm prepared to bet you'll become a repeat customer.

Leave your comment below describing your experience with The Basket People.

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-12975687262934193912012-02-14T14:47:00.001-08:002012-02-14T14:47:13.855-08:00Top Ten Ways Get Healthy
Keeping motivated

It’s February and the new year is in full swing; we know a lot of you have made the resolution to get back into shape and shed some of those holiday kilos. To help, we want to give you our top ten pieces of advice to keep motivated at the gym, and committed to your diet!

Ten – Vary your routines. The same exercises and food everyday can get a bit tedious, and monotony is a big motivator for giving up! Varying your exercise routine and diet along with learning new movements and recipes will help keep you mentally engaged; learning is a big part of exercise and dieting.

Nine – Learn. Become actively interested in your diet and your body. Learning how diets, appetite suppressants and exercise effects your body will help keep your mind stimulated. You don’t want to walk into the gym everyday feeling like a zombie!

Eight – Set a realistic weekly goal. Each week you should be setting new short term goals. Whether it is a weight loss or fitness target, such as completing a kilometre run in less time than the week before, you want to always be reaching your plateau and striving for the next one. Short term goals help make long term goals more realistic.

Seven – Bring a like minded friend. You are much more likely to stick to your exercise promises if someone else is relying on you. People seem to be rather comfortable letting themselves down, however disappointing a friend is something most would rather avoid. Make a commitment to each other to exercise together. You will find it not only makes things more enjoyable, but you will be much more inclined to stick to your promises if someone else is relying on you!

Six – You get started by getting started. STOP putting things off. The hardest part of doing something is getting started. Just take it one day at a time from there. HURRY UP AND JUST GET STARTED!

Five – Don’t make comparisons. This isn’t a competition with others, stop comparing yourself to the glory bodies and slim twenty something’s next to you, you’re only going to dishearten yourself. When it comes down to it you’re only racing against yourself anyway, just stick to your goals, and keep on bettering your performance.

Four – Count calories. It is as simple as it sounds really, if you want to lose weight look at calories in vs calories burnt. Appetite suppressants and dieting supplements may help you to control your calorie intake, but make sure you are counting and keeping track so you know you aren’t over eating!

Three – Eat healthy, nutritious foods. Sorry, but put down that sugary, delicious bakery treat and stick to wholesome foods. A balance of vegies, lean meats, lots of water and minimal carbohydrates equals a happy body. Stop stuffing your guts with sugary, fatty junk. Oh and NO fizzy drinks. How I hate fizzy drinks!

Two – Be ready for change. Whether it is a diet or a workout routine, you will probably go through what I like to call ‘the 3 phases’. The first is the ‘novelty phase’; this is the beginning where you’re all starry eyed and motivated, dreaming of your final goal. It only lasts about the first week, to be replaced by the second phase. This phase is the ‘chore phase’, reality has set in and you’ve had a taste of hard work; you don’t like it and it’s hard to stick to your goals. You have to work through this phase until you get to the final phase, what I like to call the ‘habitual phase’. After about two months of being committed throughout the chore phase a gradual change will make itself apparent. Your exercise routine and your diet are now a part of your life, it is habitual to you. When you reach this point you have successfully made a lifestyle change, and it is ‘normal’ to you now.

Change is one of the hardest things a person will go through, but we have to endure it if we really want to develop into a ‘better us’. The more we understand the processes of change, and the effects it has on our morale, the better we can prepare ourselves to achieve it. Be ready for the ‘chore phase’.

One – Do something you enjoy. If you have ever wanted to learn a new sport, or get started back with an old one, now is the perfect time! If you’re doing something you enjoy, time is going to fly and the ‘work’ element of your routine will be virtually non-existent! This is definitely the most effective way to begin exercising and start your new, active lifestyle!

A final note - although appetite suppressants and supplements may help you with your weight loss goals, they shouldn’t be the foundation of your plan. Suppressants and diet supplements are simply to be used as tools or aids to help you manage your diet and kick start your weight loss, they are not a one stop solution for your dieting woes. If you don’t teach yourself a new way of living; if you don’t change your eating and lifestyle habits you will be bound to failure no matter how many pills you devour! Dieting, exercise, weight management, appetite suppressants, and supplements can be used in combination very effectively, just be conscious not to rely on any one of these as a single solution.

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-75996611636924332312012-02-14T14:40:00.001-08:002012-02-14T14:40:45.445-08:00Nursing Angel = looking after mother and baby (and fathers) in every way
One of the best things about breastfeeding accessories and stylish maternity wear being available on your computer is that when you're heavily pregnant or caring for your new born - the last thing you really want to do is spend hours plodding around shopping centres picking up those things or baby care essentials.

You spend a lot more time at home especially during the last trimester but also throughout the 9 months. Being pregnant is every bit as wonderful as they say it is - but it's exhausting too.

An Australian online maternity and nursing store that should be bookmarked immediately is Nursing Angel.

Nursing Angel is heavenly and different.

For one thing, they aren't all about product. They provide fantastic, free motherhood resources that answer common parenting questions and address areas of concern such as Blocked Ducts & Mastitis and Working & Breastfeeding. Additionally, they have a blog and a growing Facebook community as well. For resources that are not free but still very affordable, see their Books, CDs and DVDs section, where you can find the true literary gem, "Breastfeeding Sucks" ($15).

Nursing Angel stocks maternity wear, motherhood essentials and accessories, however they specialise in breastfeeding, breast pumps and baby carriers.

Top areas to visit:

Breast Pumps and Parts

Baby Slings and Carriers

On Sale and Crazy Prices - where you can put together your own gift basket from a collection of bargains (but they do have a very handy Gift Guide section as well for baby showers, first birthdays etc)

Quick Links - BPA free, Herbal Remedies, and Organic items

Selection of stocked brands:

Ameda Breast Pumps and accessories

Majamas maternity and nursing clothes

HOTmilk - pyjamas, lingerie, briefs and camisoles (really hot)

Boba Family of Baby Carriers

BABYBJORN baby carriers - great, big range

A word on breast pumps. These can be absolute lifesavers, and one of Nursing Angel's key points of difference is that they offer breast pump hire in Sydney as well as selling them outright. One example is the Medela Symphony Hospital Grade Breast Pump Hire .

There is a lot to explore on Nursing Angel, far too much for this one blog post. Spend some time there now if you don't have the link open already.

If you liked the site, or disliked - please be sure to leave your thoughts in a comment below.

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-79408301002067170152012-02-12T14:40:00.001-08:002012-02-12T14:40:49.232-08:00Just found TheRealDeal
I felt this was worth sharing.

I came across The Real Deal, an online consumer electronics store, Australian owned and operated, with a surprisingly good range for a brand new shop. Tap2Tables would suit any of these situations:

beer gardens

hotel function rooms

hotel restaurants and breakfast areas

wedding halls

taverns, bars, pubs

breweries

caterers

etc

It's quite clever, the Tap2Table website suggests you can use the base as ad space - either to reinforce your branding, highlight specials/special events, or for third party advertisements.

My understanding is that it is RSA compliant, so no problems there, and you can easily manage that in multiple ways in any case: 6 glass minimum, serve only at the bar, etc.

Suits any beverage, from soft drink to cider, cocktails to Guinness.

To find out more about them, check out Tap2Table's website, and you can order the table top drink dispenser here

Once you've experienced your Tap2Table units, I'd appreciate if you wrote a comment below with your thoughts.

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-85429672083971286892012-02-09T15:48:00.001-08:002012-02-09T15:48:09.257-08:00City Perfume - Online Fragrance Store
I have recently come across City Perfume, an excellent online perfume and fragrance store where I found much more than I expected.

First thoughts:

Excellent, extensive range, including: Elie Saab, Jimmy Choo, CK, Chanel, Hugo Boss, Prada, Michael Kors (See the Michael Kors for Men 125ml EDT - discounted price), Bvlgari, Jean Paul Gaultier and much more

Prices vary but are often highly competitive

$10 flat rate delivery to anywhere in Australia - and delivers around the world

Nice extras like cosmetics and candles

Fragrance by horoscope - I liked this a lot, and I don't remember seeing it anywhere else

Good returns policy and it's easy to contact City Perfume and speak to a real person. This gives confidence to the shopper

At the time I last checked, City Perfume were running their CP Summer Sale 2012

There is also a bonus points reward system with American Express.

Top picks for price and label when I last looked:

Carolina Herrera 212 30ml EDT for $29 (was $100)

CK IN2U Her 150ml EDT $48 (was $95 so 50% off - in fact CK IN2U Him 150ml EDT is same price, and the Her 100ml was $28)

Obsession Men 125ml EDT - a classic - $55, save $64. Watch the video about Obsession Men here.

City Perfume is a clear and elegantly designed site that's well worth trying. If you are buying for someone, find out their horoscope and use that to help you decide what scent might be right for them, if of course you believe there's something to it. If you don't there's always the specials and top sellers that give you an indication of what fragrances are currently selling well.

Give City Perfume a try now, and leave a comment about your shopping experience with them.

What did you think?

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-76017049726265328292012-02-07T14:52:00.001-08:002012-02-07T14:52:40.698-08:00Adore Maternity for babies and mums - much more than I expected
This shop was a terrific find. If you're browsing for baby products online or gorgeous maternity wear (for pregnant or nursing mums) you might want to take a look at Adore Maternity.

Actually I found a lot more than that:

They have a range of soaps, organic baby massage oils, lotions, and washes called Little Innoscents which I think - looking at a few of the product descriptions and organic ingredients - are wonderful, and (very importantly in Australia) the Babies Only range includes Babies Only Clear Zinc Sunscreen. We know Down Under how much more important it is to keep kids protected from the sun the younger they are, and I'm often amazed how parents in other countries just aren't as concerned.

Lastly, when I checked they also had 50% off some very cute bamboo baby body suits.

That's for baby. For mums with newborns on the way there are some surprisingly stylish dresses, and the Sweet Dreams Maternity Sleepwear looked very well priced for the functionality it provides. In fact my only real gripe is that there were only 6 items in the dresses section. Would like to see more of the same.

For mum and baby they stock the Milkbar portable nursing pillow for breastfeeding. So often you'll see one mum leaning forward during feeding time and later complaining of a bad back - this product helps you adjust the height where the child rests so you're more comfortable.

I'd seen it around but if you are thinking about it or anything mummy-baby products better to pick it up from here because Adore Maternity has free shipping available around Australia on most items.

So check it out now while you have a free moment (rare for mums, I know!): Adore Maternity

Brought to you by Social Loot - Refer your friends, be rewarded!
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-25345917338597163472012-02-03T15:08:00.001-08:002012-02-03T15:08:15.293-08:00Fertile Mind - Maternity Fashion and More
I recently came across Fertile Mind, which is an online store that stocks gorgeous maternity wear and a number of essential baby goods items.

Here's what I liked:

Excellent range - maternity fashion never looked so good, with tops, jeans, skirts and pants, and they stock Manduca Baby Carriers Milkbar breastfeeding pillows ,BPA free baby bottles and a good selection of baby care products.

I even hear that the Milkbar nursing pillow is endorsed by Catriona Rowntree and Kristy Hinze!

Impressive sales & specials - often seasonal, you might like the 6WayDress or the Seraphine maternity jeans and they have loads more maternity dresses and maternity tops to check out.

Popular accessories like the BellyBelt, BellyBra for back support, maternity tights and Kushies Organic Washable Nappies

There's a lot to check out here and if you're living that short, amazing (and complex) time before your life changes for good - or have friends that are - you should definitely spend some time exploring FertileMind maternity clothes.

Best of luck and please leave a comment below to tell me what from FertileMind maternity wear you would personally recommend to others?

Useful links:

Fertile Mind homepage

Fertile Mind Sales & Specials

Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-24884076119963308302012-02-01T15:32:00.001-08:002012-02-01T15:32:05.358-08:00SABA - Summer style - latest thoughts
Summer is going strong, and summer looks are everywhere.

I recently decided to hop on over to SABA's website to play around and see how they're presenting in that space. I also checked out their facebook page.

So here are my latest thoughts, back to front:

SABA on facebook is a great community and well served by loads of competitions and freebies. For example, when I checked, there was a Likes competition to win one of their must-have Summer bags. I pledge allegiance to no one brand, but I will say SABA bags look fantastic, and along with their shoes are the pick of their accessory range. Recommend becoming part of the fun with a Like. After all, likes are free.

SABA's site is full to the brim. They're talking a lot about SABA elements - eight core building blocks for one's wardrobe. That's from their blog. Check out elements for women, and elements for men. They've done a good job simplifying things to consider for the fashion hopeless, but they are also good reminders for people who know how to dress themselves.

I mentioned Summer, and their Summer stripes are a lovely look. I liked their Willa Stripe dress - the blue is deep and rich and is everything Summer should be about.

One word though in general - be wary during February, which traditionally has the most number of overcast days. A basic tip: be sure to consider how you will look under those light conditions if you're out during the day. Weather is difficult to work towards, but try.

Sticking with the blue/indigo theme, their butterfly maxi dress is also gorgeous.

Their range is, as always, terrific, with jackets and vests for work wear sure to please. Also, if you like one of their new stylish looks (men and women), press 'select all' for a printable 10% voucher to take with you when you head into store.

Too much to talk about, really and I've barely touched on SABA for men. I'll wrap up here, however do check it out.

Head there now: http://tinyurl.com/76kr36f/122d
Fatherspirithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08385040606250541370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8097464499989925413.post-53794305493689239312012-01-26T15:47:00.001-08:002012-01-26T15:47:55.433-08:00New from Alien Characters.
